review: browdrama

You know what trend I love? The bold brow trend. It took me a while to sign up, but now that I’m on Team Brow (lets call it Team Brow-liever??), I’m never leaving. I’m also on Team Try New Things, which is why I’m attempting a beauty post, so bear with me!

As someone who isn’t keen on spending a lot of money on make up, I’ve tried my fair share of drugstore brow products, but ever since Kailyn showed me the magic that is Anastasia’s Brow Wiz it’s been my go-to pencil as I continue the search for a cheaper equivalent. Up for review this time around is Maybeline’s BROWdrama, which truth-be-told I’ve been contemplating purchasing for a while, but as luck would have it I was sent a couple to try courtesy of Influenster.

staying in touch

For any successful long distance friendship (or relationship) staying in touch is the ultimate key and, honestly, it’s also often the ultimate challenge. Seeing as we live approximately 800 miles apart and haven’t lived in the same city – not to mention state – for at least four years, we’ve explored many methods of communication. In addition to the standard texts and phone calls, here are our tips on keeping close even when that’s physically impossible.

video chatting
We know, we know… these days video chatting could easily fall under the realm of “standard” communication. Sure, we sometimes hop online to have a chat after a particularly bad day, but often it’s with a twist. We use the crazy world of technology to watch our favorite television shows together while very far apart. That’s right, penciled in our planners is a weekly date for whatever show it is we both shamefully refuse to miss that season (most often Pretty Little Liars). Guilty television feels much more guiltless when you can indulge with your BFF. To coordinate we use Rabbit  a heaven sent online service (and app) that lets you video chat with your friend (or friends- you can have up to 25 people in a room!) AND watch a video via Netflix/Hulu/YouTube/etc. on the same screen! The split screen idea is genius, because you don’t have to make sure you’re both at the same place in whatever you’re watching since you’re watching the exact same thing. Not to be dramatic, but Rabbit has changed our lives. Continue reading

one shirt, two ways

Might as well put it out there now: we’re two best friends who share a lot. That includes similar shades of brunette hair, a preference for the color yellow, late night gossip sessions, a passion for fun nail art and a similar taste in most everything (including men.. hey, Zac Efron, call us!).

But as alike as we may be and as often as we find ourselves drooling over – and ultimately purchasing – the same pair of shoes, we know everyone’s sense of style is different and we think it’s fun to see how two people might style the exact same piece of clothing. In this case we both purchased this super comfy striped tee from Old Navy and thought it might be the perfect chance to test the theory.

hi there!

We can’t believe we’re finally saying this — welcome to our blog!

By definition a blog is a noun: regularly updated website or web page, typically one run by an individual that is written in an informal or conversational style.

We’ve already thrown caution to the wind (because we’re two people not one), so basically you can expect the unexpected here at The Yellow Telephone. We promise to try and make you laugh, keep it real, refrain from using too many telephone puns and hopefully inspire you a little along the way.

This has been an idea we’ve been throwing around for years and we’re happy to finally see our brainchild come to fruition.

And by the way, according to the same dictionary (aka Google): fruition derives from the middle english word or for ‘enjoy.”

So let’s stop all this learning for now and have some fun!
